The Max Power CT HYD Series represents a complete range of heavy-duty hydraulic tunnel thrusters designed for motor yachts, deep-keeled sailing yachts and commercial vessels requiring long continuous runtimes and exceptional thrust performance. Built for medium to heavy displacement hulls from 35 ft up to 52 m, these thrusters offer robust construction, high reliability and precise maneuvering under demanding conditions.
Manufactured using corrosion-resistant composite or marine-grade bronze drive legs (depending on the model), every CT HYD thruster features the signature Max Power DUO counter-rotating propeller system, ensuring maximum efficiency, equal thrust in both directions and reduced vibration. Hydraulic operation allows for virtually unlimited runtime, making the CT HYD range ideal for large yachts, charter fleets, expedition vessels and applications where electric thrusters would quickly reach their duty-cycle limits.
As an official Max Power supplier, Gaelix Marine Service provides only original, fully certified CT HYD thrusters sourced directly from the manufacturer. We ensure compatibility with your vessel’s hydraulic system, technical support and reliable worldwide delivery.

Installation Notes
Correct installation of hydraulic tunnel thrusters is essential for achieving full thrust, minimizing cavitation and ensuring long-term reliability. The following guidelines apply to the entire Max Power CT HYD range.
Tunnel Diameter Requirements
| Model | Required Tunnel Ø |
|---|---|
| CT HYD 125 | 185 mm |
| CT HYD 225 | 250 mm |
| CT HYD 300 / 325 | 300–315 mm |
| CT HYD 550 | 400 mm |
| CT HYD 1000 | 500 mm |
Hull Thickness
-
Composite drive leg models: 6–8 mm
-
Bronze drive leg models: 8–12 mm
-
For large vessels (CT HYD 550 / 1000) recommended structural reinforcements apply.
Positioning Guidelines
-
Install the tunnel as low as structurally possible for maximum efficiency.
-
Minimum immersion: tunnel centerline must be ≥ 1 x tunnel diameter below the waterline at full load.
-
Avoid placement near chines or strong hull curvature.
-
Ensure a minimum straight tunnel length of 1.5 × diameter inside the hull.
Hydraulic System Requirements
-
Hydraulic pump must match required flow (L/min) and pressure (bar) for the selected CT HYD model.
-
Use only branded hydraulic components (Max Power specification).
-
Install cooling loops when operating in high-duty conditions.
Electrical & Control System
-
Fully compatible with Max Power control panels and the Max Power Radio Remote Control.
-
Always use original wiring harnesses and safety modules supplied by Max Power.
Maintenance Notes
-
Drive legs are zero-maintenance.
-
Check hydraulic hoses & fittings at least once per season.
-
Verify tunnel area is free from marine growth to avoid cavitation.
