Max Power Stern POD Thrusters
2 657.58€
Description

The Max Power Stern Pod Thruster Series provides an innovative and highly practical solution for installations where fitting a conventional tunnel thruster at the stern is difficult or impossible. Designed specifically for modern motor yachts, stern pod units eliminate the need for interior access and allow the entire system to be mounted externally on the transom. This approach offers greater freedom of placement, improved immersion depth and simplified installation without structural modifications inside the hull.

Built with a corrosion-resistant, waterproof and ignition-protected housing (ISO 8846), each Stern Pod thruster is engineered to operate reliably in the harsh, damp atmosphere of the bilge and stern sections. All units are factory-assembled and tested to ensure long-term, trouble-free performance with minimal maintenance. Featuring case-hardened spiro-conical gears, watertight seals and highly efficient propeller geometry, the CT Pod Series delivers excellent maneuvering capability for a wide range of motor yachts.

As an official supplier of Max Power equipment, Gaelix Marine Service provides original Stern Pod thrusters with full technical support, installation guidance and worldwide delivery.

Drawing Notes — Stern Pod Thrusters

A — Flange outer diameter
Maximum external diameter of the mounting flange.

B — Minimum flat area width
Minimum width of the flat transom surface required for POD installation.

C — Total height
Overall vertical height from the top of the housing to the lowest point of the POD.

D — Turbine (propeller) diameter
Turbine diameter: 125 / 185 / 250 mm, depending on the model.

E — Minimum immersion depth
Required minimum immersion depth:

  • CT45 → 125 mm

  • CT60 / CT80 / CT100 / CT125 → 185 mm

  • CT165 / CT225 → 250 mm

F — Service clearance
Clearance required for POD removal during maintenance.

Installation Notes

Correct installation is critical to ensure optimal thrust, proper flow and long-term durability. The following guidelines apply to all Max Power Stern Pod Thrusters:

Mounting Position

  • Install the pod entirely on the outside of the transom (no interior access required).

  • Select an area with adequate immersion depth at full load.

  • Avoid hull curvature and chines — choose a flat transom section.

Immersion Requirements

  • Propeller must remain fully submerged in all loading conditions.

  • Ideal immersion depth: minimum 1 × pod diameter below the waterline.

Hull Thickness

  • Suitable for standard GRP / composite / aluminium transoms.

  • Reinforcement may be required on thin transoms > consult Max Power guidelines.

Electrical System

  • Use original Max Power wiring kits and control panels.

  • Recommended: Max Power safety circuitry + compatible joystick controllers.

Maintenance

  • Waterproof housing requires minimal servicing.

  • Inspect seals and the external pod body annually.

  • Keep the propeller free from marine growth to prevent cavitation.
